Bergenia


I am having second thoughts about the name of this... the big leaf is the one that goes with it. The variegated leaf is periwinkle (or vinca as it is sometimes called)

Yep, second thoughts were right: it's Bergenia in your picture, with the vinca/periwinkle leaves. I believe Bergenia is sometimes called elephant ears, cos of the size and shape of its foliage. Lovely photo: a bergenia by any other name still looks as sweet!

Thanks Sue, I knew it didn't sound right. I have altered it now.
You are right it is a pretty plant and cheers the garden up at this time of year.
