RIP

I am in mourning! My most useful knife died! Wah!
When I moved into my first bedsit in 1960 after leaving the Methodist Hostel in Highbury, my Mum sent me a box of useful things. It contained used teatowels, towels and a knitted teacosy... with ears like a rabbit!!
It also contained a set of four steak knives and forks plus this bread knife. I suspect they were free with petrol or some such, but they were brilliant. They are all still in regular use but this knife has been used every single day since as a bread knife and carving knife. That is for 48years!!
Yesterday I was buttering some bread and it just snapped.
After such wonderful service... I thought it deserved it's picture on my blog.

Would you prefer Crunchy Apple Tart with Butterscotch and Custard or Vanilla Mascarpone Cheescake with Blueberries and Ice Cream?

Your choices today are either Salmon. Asparagus and Hollandaise fishcake with chips, or Jacket Potato with Tuna Lime mayonnaise and salad.

Two more pics from my nice day out yesterday. I had lunch with a friend and this is the Village Church. Unbelieveably cold day!

Lovely, very cold day today

Went for lunch in a country pub today and had it at a table near this gorgeous fire. I want to move the fire guard but daren't as the log ws rather large and I didn't want it to fall out while I was doing it!

This was the end of tonight's glorious sunset

Bergenia

I am having second thoughts about the name of this... the big leaf is the one that goes with it. The variegated leaf is periwinkle (or vinca as it is sometimes called)

Mahonia

Mahonia is nearly out this morning. Those leaves look like they were made out of leather don't they?

Lift your faces to the sun, altogether now!

I received these gorgeous baby shells in the post from the USA yesterday. The long pointy one (top left) is about 1.25 cm long.

Spring is coming!

I nearly missed this, as it has been hidden by some pots on the patio. I get this little display in about the same spot each year.

Quiet Oasis

It wasn't like this for long we got there early on purpose! You wouldn't believe how long I had to wait so that those two weren't identifiable as I didn't ask!

This is what my friend had along with a toastie.
