Playing the Blues

There aren't very many true blue flowers but I think these bluebells and grape hyacinths are just about the bluest of them. Plumbago in the Summer might be another that compares.

Can you smell them?

These are supposed to be biennials but here they keep on coming up near my front door for at least 10years now. There are some russett ones as well next to the bluebells.

White Daffodils

The daffs are still doing well in my garden. I can't remember a time when I have had them in flower for so long ... I have had different ones since the end of January this time and there are still a few yet to bloom.

Colours and Cultures of Mexico

I went to a fascinating talk by Alicia Merrett at the EG about Design and inspiration for the colours and cultures of Mexico a couple of weeks ago. I loved her colours and enjoyed the talk a lot. Here, with her permission is part of one of the quilts she showed us. It shows the main recurring elements she used, a J shape, a square within a square and a cross.

Frances's Little book

This is a little book that Frances Pickering was working on as a class example. you can see how small it is by comparing it to the size of her ring. She made an even smaller one as well... both real little gems. The smaller one was about an inch square!

The Book

I got the book assembled today and here are two of the pages being worked on.

Not sure I'd like to meet HIM on a dark night!

Water Statue

It's looking a bit blurry... but it is because it has water falling all over it.

Tiny Daffodil

This is a not very good picture of the last tiny daffodil to come out in my sink garden. The trumpet measures about 1.5cm across and although small it dwarfs the other small one behind it.. which you have seen before.
It is a gorgeous pale lemon colour and has a lovely sweet smell.

White Daffodils

These are growing in the lawn at the top of my garden. The daffodil season has been great this year and I have had a constant show for several months now and there are still more to come out.

Magnolia Stellata

Found this when wandering round the garden just now. The whole shrub looks nice but doesn't really photograph well.
